Focus Seminar 1: Turns with Sacadas

Level:  Intermediate and Advanced

Group size: maximum 7 couples with 1 teacher

This seminar will focus on the logic and dynamics of turns with sacadas. We’ll explore some ideas and exercises for dancing different types of giros with sacadas, as well as how to be stable and in control of the movements so you can dance these elements with ease.

We will continue with the study of turns in the Focus Seminar 2 about Turns with Barridas.  Each seminar may be taken independently, but if you would like to deepen your understanding of turns, we welcome you to participate in both seminars!

Focus Points

  • Understanding the structure and logic of giros and sacadas
  • The triangle of sacadas and the vectors in your body and in space 
  • Different adaptations of the embrace  
  • Preparation, action and reaction for sacadas of the leader and the follower
  • Special technique for leaders and followers

Extra Private Classes: For Focus Seminar participants, Joachim is available on December 31 for a limited number of private classes.  Please write him separately via email ( with the day and possible times you are available.  


During the 2 days, the 8 hours of class are usually organized like this:
