Immersion 19:  Rhythm, Melody and Quality of Movement

In this seminar we will develop ideas for how to dance to the rhythm and how to dance to the melody.  We will also explore ways to change the quality of our movement so that we can express the music in different ways, thus enlarging the spectrum of our movement possibilities.  

  • Identifying the melody and rhythm
  • Mastery of different rhythmic patterns
  • Communication, connection and changes in the embrace
  • Technique for high velocity movement
  • Technique for slow, dense movement
  • Exercises for body use and expression
  • Changes of dynamic

During the 4 days, the 16 hours of class are usually organized like this:

Day 1
16:30-18:30 Part 1 (2 hours)
18:30-20:30 Dinner Break (2 hours)
20:30-22:30 Part 2 (2 hours)

Day 2 & 3
14:00-16:00 Part 1 (2 hours)
16:00-17:00 Mid-Afternoon Break (1 hour)
17:00-19:00 Part 2 (2 hours)

Day 4
11:00-13:00 Part 1 (2 hours)
13:00-14:00 Lunch Break (1 hour)
14:00-16:00 Part 2 (2 hours)
