Immersion 23: Sequences for Small Space − Figures, Orientation and Navigation for a Crowded Dance Floor

Level:  Good intermediate to Advanced

A very useful and practical seminar for those times when we have very little space to dance!  We’ll explore some concepts and ideas for how to dance freely without disturbing those around us.

Among the things we will study:  

  • Codes and skills for navigating on a busy dance floor
  • Practical tips for comfortable close embrace, posture and safety
  • Linear and circular sequences for dancing on place
  • Technique for rebounds and changes of direction
  • Spatial orientation and control of figures
  • Paradas and pauses
  • Basic tools for improvisation


During the 4 days, the 16 hours of class are usually organized like this:

Day 1
16:30-18:30 Part 1 (2 hours)
18:30-20:30 Dinner Break (2 hours)
20:30-22:30 Part 2 (2 hours)

Day 2 & 3
14:00-16:00 Part 1 (2 hours)
16:00-17:00 Mid-Afternoon Break (1 hour)
17:00-19:00 Part 2 (2 hours)

Day 4
11:00-13:00 Part 1 (2 hours)
13:00-14:00 Lunch Break (1 hour)
14:00-16:00 Part 2 (2 hours)
